Twenty Eight Days

A rare intimate, patient, and tender exploration of an issue routinely subjected to the furnace of political rhetoric and the grandstanding of cultural warfare on both sides. This film, while making room for the implications of culture and policy on the individual, is ultimately far more a meditation on the individual's experience. So often, massive life changes come at us with little or no notice -- what does it feel like to confront a month-long waiting period? How does it impact our relationships with family, friends, our lover, our body, our heart? I was especially moved by the scene of journaling in the park, the film's solitary moment of tranquility and safety when she turns in toward herself. A wonderful film.
