We found this show by accident many years ago. I had figured out a way to purchase a Canadian satellite tv in order for us to be able to watch a British show that didn’t run in the U.S. (Coronation Street) So we watched some of the Canadian programming and decided we really like Rick Mercer’s weekly look at news and events. There is a lot of humor. A portion is through mockingly reporting current news items, and there are also fake advertisements. But the built of the show features events or programs going on in Canada. Mercer travels all over to report on them in person. He doesn’t mock people oenthe events, but rather he is polite and respectful while being funny. He aims most of the humor at himself as he tries to take on tasks that he has no experience doing. He also has a daily rant about some current topic. Sometimes we are uninformed about the issues and people in Canada that he refers to, but we usually catch the gist of things and see the humor. We lost sight of the show when eventually gave up the satellite coverage, but I recently found some old episodes for us to watch for old times sake.
